LPN/LVN Prior Learning Credit

Effective September 2026, Chamberlain University will provide qualified LPN/LVN licensed students with the opportunity to receive nine prior learning credits towards the 3-year pre-licensure BSN degree. Eligible students must be admitted to the pre-licensure 122-credit curriculum BSN program and hold an unrestricted, active license as a practical/vocational nurse from the U.S. or a jurisdiction that is an associate member of the National Council of State Boards of Nursing. To receive prior learning credit for NR-224 Fundamentals: Skills, NR-226 Fundamentals: Patient Care, and PSYC-290N Lifespan Development, students must provide one of the following: 

1. Proof of graduation from an accredited LPN/LVN institution within 2 years prior to their Chamberlain University start date. 
2. Proof of 1,000 hours of work in per-diem, part-time, or full-time employment as an LPN/LVN (Licensed Practical Nurse/Licensed Vocational Nurse) within 1 year prior to their Chamberlain University start date.
