This course examines American history from the formation of the 13 original colonies to the present. Coursework addresses the
struggle to define American citizenship and government, development of the nation and a national economy and racial exclusion in American
society. Also examined are the country’s transformation to a world power, reconstruction, resurgence, recession and reform, principles of justice
and the American experience.
Prerequisite: ENGL-148N
